73. Vishnu's dais is the makaara

Verse 73

பாரப்பா அச்சுதா னந்தநீலா

பச்சை வர்ணம் பூண்டிருந்த பரனே அய்யா

ஏறப்பா மகாரமல்லோ உனக்குப் பீடம்

மிருந்துமுந்தன் மகரமென்ற மவுனந்தன்னைத்

தேரப்பா சதாகாலம் நினைத்துப் போற்றித்

தேசாதி தேசமெல்லாம் நிறைந்தென்னாளும்

வேறப்பா வெறும் பேச்சுப் பேசிடாமல்

வேதாந்த பூரணத்தின் விபரங்காணே

See Achuthanandha neelaa!

The Para who is of green hue! Sir!

Climb, your dais is the makaara

Remaining there conquer the silence,

The makaara by contemplating it at all times

Pervading all the lands, every day,

Without speaking empty talk

Commentary:

Sakthi continues her instructions for Vishnu.  She addresses him as Achutha, Neela, the one with the green hue and tells him that the makaara is his dais.  Vishnu is said to maintain the world through Vishnumaya.  It is apt that Sakthi mentions that his dais is the makaara.  Vishnu is to remain on it and become an expert on silence.  Silence is the state of supreme power.  It is the state of para, the nada state.  She wants him to pervade all the worlds to maintain them and proceeds to tell him about the Divine, the Vedanta Poornam.

சக்தி தான் விஷ்ணுவுக்கு அளிக்கும் உத்தரவுக்களை இப்பாடலிலும் தொடருகிறாள்.  விஷ்ணுவை அச்சுதா, நீலா, பச்சை வர்ணரே என்று அழைத்து அவரது பீடம் மகாரம் என்கிறாள். உலகம் நடைபெறுவது விஷ்ணு மாயையினால் என்று நூல்கள் கூறுகின்றன.  விஷ்ணுவின் பீடம் மாயையைக் குறிக்கும் மகாரம் என்று சக்தி சொல்வது பொருத்தமாக உள்ளது.  அந்த பீடத்தில் இருந்து விஷ்ணு மவுனத்தில் தேரவேண்டும் என்கிறாள் சக்தி.  மவுனம் என்பது பர நிலை, நாத நிலை.  வெறும் பேச்சு பேசாமல் அவர் தான் கூறப்போகும் வேதாந்த பூரணத்தைப் பற்றிய விவரத்தைக் கேட்குமாறு சக்தி கூறுகிறாள்.
